religion, complaining

Jesus; What the hell?

Another nail in the coffin of institutional religion. Having left evangelical Christianity, I still can't get over things like this.

@robert
I was intrigued by such plans once, but I think they’re trying to emulate on a massive scale what ought to be provided by a small close-knit church family, or in a more historical secular sense, one’s own tribe.

@robert The larger an organization, the more individuals are disconnected and therefore less naturally compelled to care for one another. I don’t think it’s a question of heartlessness, but of sheer numbers. We aren’t built to treat hundreds or thousands of people the same as family— at least not all at once.

@robert My current position is that Christians would do well to focus on those God places in their own pathways rather than trying to create bigger systems to maximize their own good works. What use is the Great Commission if it’s about quantity at the expense of quality?
